A Wonderful Day in the Neighborhood: Bingo Bolger-Baggins
So we finally arrived home at Back End without further incident with our First Age guest. We had a spot of tea and did some chatting all around, and then Feanor stepped outside and that's when Further Incident made an appearance, not a very major one, but an appearance nonetheless in the form of a loud crack that we all went out to investigate, and which turned out to be a tree limb felled by Feanor's instigation. This seemed to be accompanied by a family reunion of sorts between Feanor and Celebrimbor. They went to see Celly's smithy while the rest of us went in to get dinner together. But everyone is invited when they're ready to come in and take a seat at the table.
Let's see what we have in the wine cabinet. We have wine from Woodhall--that's good. Ah, and here's one from the vineyards by the Gulf of Lune and one from the Havens--made with Elven palates in mind--let's put those out as well. Shall I pour, or should we wait?

bomb shelterwine cellar. And of course, there's always tea.*half smiles and half purses his lips at her self-deprecating remark* It has been quite a day, for both of us. *draws her into a hug* I'm exhausted. Aaaaand achy. But I promise to be up for this if you do. How are you holding up?
no subject
*wraps her arms around him* I'm sure you are. *rubbing his back soothingly* Would you like me to make you some more willow-bark tea, or do you think you've had your fill?
*takes a deep breath and releases it with a quiet sigh* I feel as if I've run through every repressed emotion I've ever had involving the... *finally assigning a face to the source of her lingering anger and bitterness, if still not quite willing to speak his name* ex-father-in-law. *wryly* But I think I'm going to live, in spite of his best intentions.
*pauses before continuing, smiling
enigmaticallysoftly to herself* That said, the day has not been completely without its charm. And Lady willing this evening will be over soon, and we can all get some much needed rest. How is that for a plan?no subject
No, more tea for now, thank you, Elanorelle. *relaxes in her arms* Just keep doing that. *smiles playfully at her*
He is a bloody bastard, isn't he? But I might be biased seeing he led me with lies to Lindon, and helped his father attempt to off me when they had me cornered, as I'm sure was necessary, seeing how formidable I am in comparison to two Noldor lords. *wryly* Makes you almost root for the balrogs, doesn't it?
*teasingly* I see. But that wouldn't have anything to do with my uncle's company, I should think.
*nods* Hear! hear!

*sucks in her breath sharply, still harboring guilt over the fact that she had hadn't divorced herself completely from the family that day* Yes. I'm so sorry, Bingo. *is prevented from launching into too many italics, however, by virtue of his balrog joke, variations of which never fail to amuse her* Absolutely. *hastens to clarify, knowing that their dinner guest met his demise in the same fashion* In his case at least.
*blushes and laughs, adding coyly* Oh, absolutely nothing at all. *laughs again, feeling a little silly at her sudden giddiness, but not minding too terribly*
Although things do seem to be a bit too quiet. Should we be worried, or should we just enjoy the brief respite?
no subject
Indeed. *understands her qualification* We'll withhold Balrog-Demising-Judgement on this branch of the family until we know more about them, and observe more of their behavior toward us.
*becomes serious* Celebrimbor struck me as a nice, unassuming fellow for an Elf, especially one so accomplished. But his calling of his rings back to himself worries me. It seems to me art should be generative, not hoarded. I hope he's just collecting them to make an accounting of them and have a reunion of sorts, but if he doesn't dispense them to others, I don't think much good can come of that. Feanor, on the other hand . . . is not an unassuming person, but I suppose such a creator doesn't need to be . . . which may be how everyone has always treated him . . . and how he got the way he did . . . one wonders what some thousands of additional years has taught him. I was unexpectedly pleased by his interest in our doings. That's the most curious I've ever seen an Elf about those different from himself. It's not the same as actually caring about others, but it is a start.
*laughs and smiles knowingly at her, but decides not to pry*
Let's not borrow worries, dearheart; we are quite wealthy in that department. *smiles at her, takes her hand* I'm so glad you're back with us. And I do think it's probably a good thing that we have these guests right now.
no subject
*nods as she listens, generally agreeing with his assessment of their Noldorin guests but feeling as if she has little to add to it at the moment with her mind still jumbled*
*offers another quick smile* It's good to be back. *although truth be told at the moment she wishes she could run away and hide under the bed*
*softly* Why do you say that, Bingo?
no subject
Well, because as much as you want to start afresh now, there's no way you can put your past behind you--one's past becomes ever more looming when you carry it into a new place, trying to find a drawer to stuff it into. These Noldor have given a chance for you to view it from the angle of a more distant part of that family. Aaaaaaand it's made you somewhat ornery today, dearheart--and that's a very good thing. *smiles encouragingly at her* It will help you settle here better, carry your past from a more advantageous hold, and continue on into your future with it. Besides ornery Elanorelle amuses me ever so much.

I know Bingo, thank you. I suppose I knew that I'd have to go through this process at some point, but I wasn't quite expecting it today, and would have preferred to go through in a slightly less... *winces, imagining how moody and difficult and self-absorbed she must seem to everyone else present* public manner.
*smiles as Isengar enters the room but holds back a moment, still feeling a bit awkward and insecure and weird*

*sees his uncle enter (http://www.livejournal.com/users/bbolger_baggins/60250.html?thread=1732954#t1732954)* Ah, and look who it is.

I made this (http://gallery.origami.free.fr/Auteurs/Japan/kimura/photos/Dragon%20rouge/Dragon%20Rouge%20Max%20Mvc-095f.jpg) for the table. Inside joke and all. Sort of.
Not interrupting, am I?
((Oooo, cool one!))
painting his toe nails is still one of the highlights of my life.Of course not! *wraps him in a hug*
((Isengar = teh cool origami guy))
*hugs back*
*smiles at Elanor*

Perhaps we should send something for her brother as well. Do you have any good suggestions, Bingo? I'm afraid I didn't get to know him that well during our stay.

*nods with great seriousness*
I don't know if that will encourage him to go to sea when he's older, though. That might not be such a good thing.

make any number of flirtatious comments in strikeoutshear you play.*thinks for a moment* With his love of anything to do with music, I think he might enjoy building an instrument of his own. I believe there are a couple of shops in town that sell craft kits of that sort. Perhaps we can look for a kazoo kit in the morning.

Will Tiger be joining us? I haven't seen him in a while.

So many people disappear around here.
*glances over at Bingo and Elly to make sure they've not gone anywhere he can't follow*
*is relieved to see them still there*
*shakes head*
Dinner, yes. A good plan and one I approve of.

Perhaps we're more stubborn than most.
But dinner waits for no man or Hobbit, and we have guest to attend to.
*offers his
heartarm to Elly*May I?

*smiles adoringly at Isengar as she takes his arm* I'd be delighted.

*takes her hand and says softly* I am glad for that, Celly. Lady knows you are more than deserving of any kindness or honor the Noldor can bestow.
