Hello! I'm taking a break from the current storyline here to celebrate Professor John Ronald Reuel Tolkien's birthday today. It's 117 years since he was born. Please join me in raising a glass to him in a toast.

Care for a glass of champagne? I know I have some more glasses around here.

Are you ready? On the count of 3 . . .

TO THE PROFESSOR!!!!!

Without whom I wouldn't be here. In my retro-draft glory. Now I'm exhausted. Please have some more, so I don't finish it all myself and start singing Elvish karaoke, like some others around these parts.

Why, thank you, Bingo! How kind! I don't mind if I do.

To the Professor!!

P.S., just a note of warning- you never know what you might get up to if you, erm, overindulge in champagne. I've witnessed some hobbits actually singing karaoke and doing a striptease :O

((Added more pics and a reference--go see!))

*fills your glass* Thank you for joining me, Ms. [livejournal.com profile] lbilover! It's always a pleasure to have your company.

Oh, I know! The reports of that incident have been flyng all about the Shire! Those lucky, lucky hobbits! How I wish I had someone to strip karaoke with!

Oh dear! Flying all about the Shire? I'm having trouble getting Frodo to leave the house without covering his head with a paper bag from embarrassment as it is! We'd best keep this between ourselves, Bingo, and not let Frodo know, or he might never venture out-of-doors again. The poor hobbit just has no idea how totally hot adorable he is when he is tipsy!!

Of course, Sam and I agree with you entirely about the lucky bit!! Frodo on a table stripping singing karaoke was a sight we will never, ever forget. *happy sigh* I do hope you will have your own Sam soon to strip sing karaoke with!!

Oh dear! Poor fellow--of course, of course!

*contemplates* I wonder . . . in the MESPT storylines I am Frodo's elder brother of 6 years; as you've read in the early draft, I was 39 when Bilbo up and left. Frodo went on the quest, you see, and I wasn't good enough didn't . . . exactly. *shrugs* I wonder if your Frodo is my brother as well? In any event, give him my best regards.

Of course, I don't have a Sam of my own in this universe, but I did meet an Iorhael of another universe who was my beloved for a couple of years--it took me some time to heal from our break-up, but I have. *segways quickly and brightens* Well, isn't string theory fun?

In the new Tol Eressea storyline I'm currently in, however, my later draft brother Frodo and I are one and the same, I was the ringbearer, and this is the very first time I have a Samwise who loves me, which is rather intoxicating, even if I do terribly miss having a brother. But my Sam is still in the Shire with dear Rosie and all the little ones right now except when we're off the set and can do what we want--stripping is a favorite activity, to be sure, while I needed to be here in the Blessed Realm with the Ringbearer Support Group to help me get better, and better I've gotten. Sam will sail here when the time is right--I know it. *sappy smile*

Here's to the Professor! *clinks glasses with Bingo*

Lavender, I love the itty bitty glass and champagne bottle. They're perfect! And when he's sitting on the bench outside Bag End it looks like he's in a charming little Paris cafe with garden seating.

I will have to send a like to jan-u-wine so she can see this, if you haven't told her already. She's toasting the Professor herself tonight, but at an actual Tolkien get-together, not on line, lucky dog. :)

Yay, thank you!

But he's not the only hobbit doll running around LJ with champagne lately, which is what [livejournal.com profile] lbilover and I are talking about above. Though I warn you there is full frontal plasticness to be found here (http://lbilover.livejournal.com/370873.html), such that it upset the sensibilities of some bored picture security checker at photobucket who took down one of her pics--won't someone think of the Cabbage Patch baby dolls who might be scarred by such pics! (-;

Heee, Jan and Bingo have become fast friends over at his first entries--they're still conversing, much to his total delight. :-D

Awwwww, how lovely!!!

*joins Bingo in raising a glass to Professor Tolkien*

Mr. Bingo looks adorable on his bench in the front garden of Bag End!

So you have a miniature Bag End too? It's absolutely cute, I'd love to see more pics of it, if you don't mind!!

And dear Mister Bingo, may I come visiting you at Bag End when you're not busy? You know, dear gentlehobbit, I have a weakness for little homes and hobbit holes!

*hugs you and Mr. Bingo*

....please forgive my late-i-tude....perhaps I am related to a certain wizard (definitely, I have a pointy hat....). I do hope the champagne has not become as deflated as a tyre of the Last Age.

Ah, Esqre, you see, you DO know some Francais! You are quite the bon vivant, sir! (btw, did you know that the word "karaoke" is the same in French as it is in English? Elvish, as well, although I hear that the snooty Quenya faction uses an entire chapter in "So You Want to Learn Quenya?" to translate this odd rite into an even more peculiar high-Elfalutin' *thing*).

In any case, I, being not so polished in my drinking manners as you, (and possibly of lesser means: just HOW much gold....stuff DO you have socked away in those Tol-ish tunnels, anyway?)happily raised a black-and-tan (or two) to the dear Professor last eve.

Re your comment to Mz. Mechtild in regards to us being 'fast friends'. For my part, I am honored to be your friend, sir....(ahem) fast or no.

À bientôt,

~jan

*chuckles, picks up bottle and shakes very gently, and examines* You're in luck; it is still frothy and full of Fourth Age goodness. *pours a glass and hands to you* To the Professor!

I did NOT know that. *rolls his eyes, does not channel a deceased late night talk show host* They would. That's why I prefer to recommend Quenya for Dummies to beginners. And I still make reference to my Joys of Quendian from time to time.

*looks at bottle, puzzled* It's a fine vintage, but not all that pricey, really.

The honour, mellonamin, and the joy, is all mine. *beams a fond smile at you*

Au revoir, lisse mellon.
